Birth Planning Consultation

In order to provide safe and individualized care during birth, our team of midwives and doctors needs information about the course of your pregnancy so far, how you're feeling, and any notable examination findings or particularities in your (medical) history. To do this, we look at your maternity records (Mutterpass) and discuss the existing findings with you.

If any particularities are present, we may refer you to our senior physician consultation, where further examinations, information, and counseling relevant to the birth will take place.

For us, registering for the birth isn't just about recording medical data — it's also about creating space to get to know each other, ask questions, and express wishes. Talking about wishes and questions that have come up at home and in birth preparation classes during the final weeks of your pregnancy is an important part of birth preparation. Please attend one of our info evenings before your registration appointment to familiarize yourself with our maternity ward in advance.

We also want to offer you support if domestic or social circumstances make the start with your baby more difficult. In such cases, we refer you to the Babylotsen (baby pilots/support guides), who can offer you advice and support at our hospital before and after the birth. [LINK]

As midwives, we set aside one hour per registration for the counseling conversation. If more time is needed to discuss topics, concerns, and questions, or if there are particular emotional and/or physical complaints during pregnancy, we offer a therapeutic outpatient clinic.

As a Level 4 (maximum care) hospital, there are certain exclusion criteria that make admission to a different hospital necessary. You can find these criteria at [LINK].

If you are planning a birth at a birth center or a home birth and intend to use our maternity ward as a backup, you do not need to attend a registration appointment. In the event of a transfer, your attending midwife will provide us with all the necessary data.
